birding in la porte
The City of La Porte is part of the Greater 288 Birding Trail with two especially unique areas for discovering a variety of coastal birds. The Little Cedar Bayou Nature Trails are a hidden gem for quiet watching and photography with sweeping views of Galveston Bay.
The San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site is another idealic spot. While visiting the San Jacinto Monument, local birders recommend hiking down to the south end of the park. Wood Storks are often present in late summer and fall, and Hooded Mergansers and Greater Scaup have been seen during winter.
