Parade
Help us commence the celebrations with a grand introduction to Mardi Gras with the biggest Second Line La Porte has ever seen. The March to Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 4:00 pm.
What is a Second Line?
The Second Line has deep roots in history as New Orleans’ famous jazz funerals. It was a celebration of life! Today the tradition continues… and the Second Line umbrella is a symbol of celebration and a welcome invitation for everyone to join in the rolling excitement. The umbrellas of today are extra and reflect personal attitude and creativity.
Any entry from Umbrellas, Pets, Golf Carts, Jeeps, to Traditional Floats are welcome. There are trophies up for grabs!!
Who can participate in the March to Mardi Gras Parade? We welcome friends, organizations, businesses, individuals, and everyone else to join in the fun!
Parade Details:
The parade route will begin in the High School Parking lot off Fairmont Pkwy. The parade will travel down Broadway and end at the event on Main Street.
Bring lots of beads and candy for the kids (big and small)!!
Mardi Gras Market
One of the highlights of our street festivals are local vendors selling one-of-a-kind finds, delicious treats, and Mardi Gras-themed goods! We will have over 60 vendors lining Main St!
The initial application period has ENDED. Any applications submitted at this point will only be evaluated IF spaces become available. Submit your vendor application here. We welcome handmade arts and crafts, specialty foods, and more! Priority is given to Mardi Gras theme or related items. Direct sales vendors are limited to one (1) representative per franchise. City staff reserves the right to limit the type and/or number of vendors of a certain product. Please Note: Only one organization per booth.
free kid’s zone
The Kid’s Zone at Five Points Plaza will have it all! Carnival Rides, MEGA Alligator Slide, Face Painting, Mardi Gras Masks, and more!
Food & beer
Your favorite ice-cold suds will be served up by the Rotary Club of La Porte from the beer tent at 2nd and Main!
Come hungry! Stay tuned for food vendors.
