Thanks for your interest in the Young Merchants of Main Street opportunity as a part of Main Street Trade Days in La Porte! This event is the first Saturday of every month from 10a to 2p. There is NO fee for the Young Merchants to participate. Our main goal for our young entrepreneurs is to have a fun place to re-home goods and share info about their services.

Participation Process: Upon acceptance, you will be added to the group email to keep you in the loop for all event information. Events are organized one month at a time. An email for participation is sent out the Wednesday following the Saturday event. You must respond to the email if you would like to confirm a spot for the upcoming month.

Attendance/Punctuality: Young merchants are required to participate in the entirety of the event (from set up to break down) and those under the age of 16 must have adult supervision for the entirety of the event. Set up starts at 8a.m. We expect all vendors to be set up and be ready to go at 10am. As a vendor, you are committing to staying until 2p. Should you leave before 2p, you will not be allowed to participate in future events.

Space: The Young Merchants of Main Street will be set up along W. Main St., in La Porte. 10 x 10 canopy spots are limited and assigned on a first come first serve basis. Other spots are designed based on the layout of W. Main St and will support the use of one 6ft. table but no canopies. If you are assigned a canopy spot, you must provide the canopy with 25 pounds of weight per leg. Canopies must be secured as soon as they are put up. Umbrellas are not allowed. You will need to provide your own tables/displays. Displays should be sturdy and wind resistant as we often have a breeze/wind. An email will be sent out the Thursday or Friday just prior to the event with spot location.

Approved items: Young Merchants may sell goods or promote services. All products must be made or collected by the Young Merchant or organized and run by themselves!

No Shows/Cancellations: The success of this event is largely tied to the vendors so it is important if you commit to a spot, you show up..we are counting on you! We understand life happens, so if something comes up, please communicate with Kelley at 713-824-2504. If you commit and do not show or communicate with us, you will not be invited to future events.

Weather: Sunshine…that’s what we want! In the event mother nature doesn’t agree, the event will be cancelled. If the event is cancelled, vendors will be informed by email by 6a.m. the morning of the event. It is hard to predict the weather so we encourage all vendors to bring plastic/tarps just in case rain blows in!

Pricing: Pricing of goods sold at the event (and applicable tax) is solely the responsibility of the vendor. Please bring adequate monetary change to support your sales.

Licensing/Permits: It is the responsibility of the vendor to know and maintain the proper licensing/permits for their item. If food is being sold, it is the vendor’s responsibility to know what is required by Harris County Health Dept. Please visit the Harris County Health Department at www.publichealth.harriscountytx.gov and https://texascottagefoodlaw.com/ for more information.

Setup/Breakdown: Each vendor is responsible for their own set up and breakdown. Breakdown includes leaving your space and surrounding area clean, trash free.
