Welcome to La Porte! We're proud to be a part of Fleet Week Houston, an event that's bringing the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines to the city for a series of public activities. In partnership with Harris County Precinct 2, we are excited to host the Sylvan Beach Naval Showcase on Sunday, April 19. Join us for a full day of live naval demonstrations, interactive displays, and cutting-edge equipment as the military showcases its sea, air, and tech capabilities.

The inaugural Fleet Week Houston will bring multiple U.S. Navy vessels and more than 1,000 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen to the area. La Porte is honored to be a part of the very first Navy Fleet Week to ever be hosted in a Texas city! We can't wait to welcome the brave men and women of the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard to our community for this historic occasion. We're proud to see our city play a role in this significant celebration and look forward to this showcase of the rich history and traditions of our armed forces.

Sylvan Beach Naval Showcase

Get ready for a historic day on the bay! As part of the highly anticipated inaugural Fleet Week Houston, the City of La Porte and Harris County Precinct 2 are hosting the Sylvan Beach Naval Showcase on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

This is the first time the U.S. Navy has brought the Fleet Week tradition to a Texas city. Throughout the week, the Houston area is welcoming over 1,000 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, alongside impressive visiting vessels like the USS Kearsarge, USS Minneapolis-St. Paul, and USCGC Edgar Culbertson.

The Sylvan Beach Naval Showcase is your chance to see the elite capabilities of our military up close through high-action demonstrations, interactive tech displays, and live entertainment. Whether you are a military history buff or just looking for an exciting Sunday adventure with the family, here is your ultimate guide to the event.

🚗 Parking & Shuttles

Parking and directional signs will be posted throughout the area to guide you. Shuttles will run throughout the festival to transport guests between the parking lots and the event entrance. (See the attached Parking Map at the bottom of this article for visual directions!)

Primary Public Parking:

Overflow Parking:

  • San Jacinto Pool Lot 504 E G St La Porte, TX 77571

Important Parking Note: As this event takes place on a Sunday, please be courteous to our community and do not park in church parking lots, as our local congregations will be holding their regular services.

The day will be packed with live demonstrations and static displays, including performances by the Quantico Marine Corps Band, Military Working Dog demonstrations, and interactive tech displays.

  • 10:30 AM: Coast Guard Search & Rescue (SAR) Hoist Demo (Sylvan Beach Waterfront)*

  • 10:30 AM: USMC Martial Arts Display (Festival Grounds)

  • 12:00 PM: Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Demonstration (Sylvan Beach Waterfront)

  • 12:00 PM: Quantico Marine Band: Ceremonial Band Performance (Main Stage)

  • 12:30 PM: Military Working Dog Demonstration (Festival Grounds)

  • 1:00 PM: Quantico Marine Band: New Orleans Brass Band Performance (Main Stage)

  • 1:45 PM: United States Navy Ceremonial Guard Drill Team Performance (Festival Grounds)

  • 2:00 PM: Quantico Marine Band: Popular Music Group Performance (Main Stage)

🚨 Entry & Security Requirements

To ensure a safe environment for all attendees and service members, strict security measures will be in place.

  • Security Screening: All guests must pass through TSA-level security screening and scanning systems prior to entry.

  • ID Requirements: Adults (18+) must present a valid government-issued ID (such as a driver's license or state ID).

  • Minors: All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

🚫 Bag Policy & Prohibited Items

Bag Policy: No bags are allowed (including large backpacks, oversized camera bags, or large purses). The only exception is diaper bags, which are subject to search upon entry.

Other Prohibited Items:

  • Defensive chemicals, sprays (i.e., mace, pepper spray, aerosol cans, etc.)

  • Fireworks, flammable liquids, or other explosives

  • Smoking, dipping, or chewing gum onboard USN Vessels or within 100 FT of watch-standers

  • Illegal drugs and/or paraphernalia, including marijuana

  • Food, drinks, water, ice chests, and coolers

  • Sealed 16-20 ounce water bottles allowed only

  • Pets (service animals allowed)

  • Guns, knives, clubs, or weapons of any kind

  • Skateboards/bicycles/scooters Gang-related
